Pomegranate Juice Health Benefits

Did you know - the health benefits of regular consumption of pomegranate juice are comparable to red wine, purple grape juice and black tea?

This is because pomegranate juice is rich in cardiovascular antioxidants known as polyphenols, including anthocyanins. Antioxidant polyphenols - found in red wine, grapes, blueberries, soy milk, dark chocolate, tea and, of course, grenades - are known to lower LDL "bad" cholesterol LDL, protect blood vessels and lowers blood pressure (BP).

In fact, some scholars believe the pomegranate juice is very beneficial for the heart and circulatory system, which should be promoted as a standard part of a heart healthy diet.

In 2005, scientists from the Preventive Medicine Research Institute studied the effect of pomegranate juice on atherosclerosis, the main cause of cardiovascular disease. They gave patients with coronary heart disease or a cup of pomegranate juice or a similar-tasting drink every day control for three months. These patients were studied using ECG and other screening methods as the beginning and end of the study.

At the end of the study, researchers found that ischemia - the restriction of blood flow due to the clogging of the arteries in the heart - was significantly lower in the pomegranate juice. On the other hand ischemia level actually increased in the control group.

In 2009, a group of scientists published a review of all available studies on the benefits of pomegranate juice. They reported the following:

Pomegranate juice not only improve blood flow to the entire cardiovascular system of patients with heart disease, but it also helped to lower high blood pressure and general inflammation.
In human and mouse models of pomegranate juice has significant activity against free radical oxidation and atherosclerosis - that contribute to heart disease with inflammation.
Pomegranate juice to cure damage to the blood vessels in mice with atherosclerosis and reduce the thickness of the blood vessels in the heart of patients who were on medication.
In one study, patients with type II diabetes who drank pomegranate juice have seen a decrease in their level of lipids in the blood.

More recent animal studies in 2010 showed that pomegranate juice can even protect rats that later developed heart disease.

First, pomegranate juice scientists fed to healthy rats for 30 days while maintaining the control group of rats to compare. At 28 and 29 days, both groups of rats were treated to induce cardiac disease as a state. Groups of rats fed with pomegranate juice has been much less.

So why not start protecting your heart today, adding pomegranate juice to your diet?

If so, remember - Fresh pomegranate juice is very high in natural sugar, so it is best to dilute it with water or add it to a healthy shake or shake before use.
